How to schedule Instagram Reels (every method)
Method 1: Inside the Instagram app
Since Instagram added native scheduling for professional accounts, the app itself is the fastest route for one-off Reels — the steps above take under a minute. Scheduled items live in Menu → Scheduled content, where you can reschedule or delete (but not edit the video itself).
Method 2: Meta Business Suite (desktop)
- Go to business.facebook.com → Planner (calendar view).
- Create post → choose your Instagram account → toggle Reel.
- Upload the video, write the caption, then Schedule with date and time.
Business Suite's advantages: a real calendar view and cross-posting to Facebook. Its limits: clunky for volume, no bulk import, no media library reuse, no recycling — and it only speaks Meta, so your TikTok calendar lives somewhere else.
Method 3: third-party schedulers (official API)
Tools built on Instagram's official Graph API add what Meta's own tools lack: bulk scheduling, one calendar across platforms, reusable media libraries, evergreen recycling. The same rule as everywhere applies — official API only; tools that ask for your Instagram password risk account restrictions. Growently's Instagram integration is in active development on exactly this official path, joining its live TikTok scheduler.
Reel scheduling gotchas
- ~75-day horizon on native tools — plan quarterly campaigns in chunks.
- No editing scheduled videos — delete and recreate to change the clip.
- Trending audio can expire licensing — a Reel scheduled weeks out may lose its audio if the track is pulled; original audio is safest for far-future posts.
- First hour still needs you — replies feed ranking; schedule the publish, calendar the engagement.
Frequently asked questions
Can I schedule Reels on a personal Instagram account?
No — native scheduling requires a professional (Creator or Business) account. Switching is free in Settings → Account type and doesn't change how your profile looks to followers.
How far ahead can Instagram Reels be scheduled?
About 75 days with Instagram's native tools (app or Meta Business Suite). Third-party official-API schedulers can extend planning horizons and add bulk tools.
Do scheduled Reels get less reach?
No — Meta's own tools schedule the same publish action, and official-API third-party posts are treated identically. Reach differences come from content and consistency, not the scheduling method.
